Correct, this was a Shakespearean quote, and it could be found in one of his plays, Romeo and Juliet. It was found in Act III, scene 2, line 22-26. This scene took place in a room in Capulet's house, which is the orchard.


At that time, Juliet was waiting impatiently for nightfall to come so that she can celebrate her wedding night with her beloved Romeo. Then the Nurse came, looking very downcast and in serious agony, so her distress make her quite incomprehensible, so she was mislead to believe that Romeo was dead, as the nurse didn't say who was killed and keep on saying "Romeo". so Juliet thought that Romeo had died, but in fact, it was Romeo who killed Tybalt.


But this incident brought about serious consequences. It brought about a rift between the two families, and the collapse of the long-lasting relationship with each other. The two young lovers were soon be separated from each other.
