What was the time D-Day on June 6,1944 started?

The D-Day attack had several components, each of which began at a different time. A night assault of three airborne divisions to protect the flanks (one British on the left and two American on the right) was launched late on the night of June 5 and continued after midnight, the early morning of June 6. At dawn, there was a huge air and sea bombardment of the German troops at all of the beaches that were to be invaded. The actual land battle began at 6:30, the morning of June 6. By nightfall, the Allies were on ashore on land that stretched about 55 miles long.
